I’ve been in this group for about three months now and I have
yet to see any reply’s to people’s problems by a certified Ford
mechanic. I spent some time in the alt.toyota news group and
they did have toyota certified mechanics helping people with
their problems. Yes, its true, even Toyota’s have problems (ask
any 86-92 Supra owner about their head gaskets). The toyota
mechanics would tell folks about service bulletins, short cuts to
replace this or that and diagnostics based on users description
of the problem.
How do we go about getting a little manufacture’s
representation within this group? It would be very good customer
relations for Ford, and it would help us get professional
assistance with our problems, rather than some of the WAGs (wild
ass guess) I’ve seen so far. Example: Clunking noise in front,
on left turn, intermittent, 2 wheel drive Aerostar. WAG: Sounds
like CV joints to me…..Sure it is, on a rear wheel drive van
that has no CV joints. Hey, I know the guy was just trying to
help and if he has only owned front wheel drive cars, then based
on his experience, that might have been a good diagnostic tip for
a front wheel drive car. My point is, wouldn’t be nice, after
reading the above WAG, to have received a reply from a Ford
certified mechanic that told you it sounds like a stuck brake
caliper, and that you should inspect both front calipers and
probably grease the slides. That way if you went to your local
dealer or garage and they told you it was your muffler bearings,
you’d know enough to grab your wallet and run.
So if any of you have good relations with your local ford
dealership, you might want to mention this new group to them. Or
if you have any ideas on getting this to the attention of Ford
Inc. let us know.
Thanks for letting me sound off AGAIN,
Paddler
